He said that a ghost is an earth-bound spirit who has usually desires of lust to work off, and who tries to fulfill them through others. The fear that a human feels for a ghost satisfies a lust for cruelty in the ghost; but ghosts have no power over men, except in very very rare cases; even poltergeists who throw things about have no real power.
