DISCRIMINATION

 
Years ago when I went to see Baba He was telling us about how dreadful things were going to be. When I came back, I repeated this to some of my husband's business acquaintances and one of them said to me, "You are just so depressing."

I replied, "Well, I'm just trying to alert you."

About three years later he came in and apologized. He said, "I am beginning to see what you were talking about."

Of course, I did not want the apology. It is very difficult to tell people anything. So, discrimination is very difficult to acquire.

Actually, the word for discriminative faculties is, in the Buddhist terms, the buddhi. They are the faculties which operate when the third eye is opened, when kundalini functions and one becomes illuminated. For that reason, Gautama was named the Buddha.

So, our first qualification has to be the beginning of getting the buddhi opened — developing discrimination.
