The Avatar Meher Baba Trust is happy to announce the addition to its
Online Library of two out-of-print publications from the Meher Baba
literature: "Gems from the Discourses of Meher Baba" and "Messages of
Meher Baba Delivered in the East and West".

"Gems" contains selected passages compiled by Adi K. Irani from the
"Discourses". The Discourses from which these excerpts were drawn were
originally published in the "Meher Baba Journal", vols. I, II, III, and
IV. This small volume of twenty-five discourses was first published in
1943 by Adi K. Irani under the title "Gems from the Teachings of Meher
Baba". A second edition, titled "Gems from the Discourses of Meher
Baba", came out in 1945 and was published by Elizabeth C. Paterson. The
latter is the edition which was used as the source for the Online
Library e-edition.

"Messages" is a collection of timely messages given by Meher Baba from
1932 through 1944 which are grouped in two sections: first, those
delivered in the East, and second, those delivered in the West. The
messages are arranged chronologically so as to help the reader keep
track of the period of time and the group to which these messages were
delivered, as they include references to current affairs of the time.

PDF files of these books can be found among the offerings of other books
by Meher Baba at: http://ambppct.org/meherbaba/BooksByMeherBaba.php

These two volumes like all of our e-editions, should not be misconstrued
as a facsimile reproduction of the original books. In creating these
online versions, we digitally scan the original print versions, read
them through OCR ("optical character recognition") software, reflow and
redesign the text, and proofread it. The content of the original
publications has been reproduced on a page-by-page basis. We have not
used the same fonts, however; and the page design, lineation, and text
flow has all been done afresh. The virtue to this process is that it
results in internet files that are more easily searchable and faster to
download. You'll have to go to the printed books, however, if you want
the exact original appearances.

Since we work with a small though dedicated volunteer staff, it is
possible that mistakes have wormed their way into these online editions.
If you find any of these, we will be grateful if you inform us.
