HEART TALK - More Original Letters: Fourth Letter
This letter is from Adi Sr. to Chanji, who was in Bombay. It
conveys Baba's specific instructions for the Katrak family,
regarding Baba's 1938 birthday celebrations at Meherabad.
"Alamae" -- is Alamai Manchershaw Katrak, the mother of
Dina and Dara Katrak, and the sister-in-law of Jerbai Dastur.
Jerbai was married to Kaikobad (Kekobad) Dastur, one of
Baba's mandali, and she and her daughters -- Meheru, Gulu
and Jalu -- lived in the hospital building behind the Samadhi
most of their lives, beginning in 1944. (Jalu still lives there.)
"Upperna" ("upper ones") refers to the small group of Eastern
women -- Mehera, Mani, Naja, Khorshed, Soonamasi and
Valu -- who were living a secluded life on Meherabad Hill.
"The Panchgani bungalow" refers to "Dilkhusha" where the
women stayed for three months, from March 1938, during the
construction of the top floor of the Water Tank on Meherabad
Hill.
Some adjustments have been made for clarity. The original
