Previews of the June 2008 issue of In His Service
The June 2008 issue of the Trust newsletter, In His Service, will be
arriving soon. In addition to the Financial Report, the June issue will
include articles on the following fascinating topics:
50th Anniversary of the 1958 Meherabad Sahavas:
Read about the observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the last major
sahavas held by Meher Baba in Meherabad. At the commemoration, a crowd
of several hundred gathered on Meherabad Hill for a three-day program
which included talks by Chairman Bhau Kalchuri, Meherwan Jessawala,
twenty-eight of the original attendees, and others, who all provided
vivid and detailed memories of the original event. In addition, bhajans
were performed and a film was shown entitled "Love-Feast Gathering,"
created especially for this year's event. Learn about the many other
features of the program and see beautiful photos of Baba with attendees
of the 1958 sahavas.
Amartithi Volunteer Program
Each January many men and women take time off from their jobs and come
to Meherabad, where they devote the greater portion of five days to do
the innumerable small acts of service that make the Amartithi Gathering
possible. Learn about the amazing variety of tasks performed by the 832
men and women who volunteered this year. Their service is indeed a
moving testimony in the practical sphere to what love can do.
Waste Treatment at the MPR
Find out about the treatment systems for waste water and kitchen waste
that have been put into place since the Meher Pilgrim Retreat opened in
2006 and see photos of the treatment systems. Learn how Trust workers
achieved their goal of treating the materials in an environmentally
friendly way that recycles the waste back into usable forms.
Rano Gayley’s Painting: "The Avatar"
Read about the genesis and history of Rano Gayley's priceless work of
art entitled "The Avatar." For preservation purposes, this painting has
been moved to the museum in Meher Retreat on the Hill. Previously, the
painting adorned the south wall of the Rahuri Cabin in Lower Meherabad.
Its place in the cabin is now occupied by a high-quality digital
reproduction.
Restoration of Historic Meherabad Buildings:
Learn about the current program of restoration and renovation at
Meherabad. See the results of this carefully researched undertaking,
which aims not only to repair the historic buildings and sites, but to
bring them back to the condition they were in during Meher Baba's
lifetime. Several restoration projects have already been completed or
are currently in progress, and more are slated for the next few years!
