Dear Friends in Meherabad,

You have probably noticed that an epidemic of flu is going through
Meherabad and Arangaon. The symptoms are: a fever, (can be quite high),
body pain, runny nose and cough. Sometimes also nausea and loose motions.
It can last 4 to 5 days and can relapse if one does not take enough rest.

What can we do to stop it from spreading?

The virus is transmitted by droplets when one coughs or sneezes, so
please train all around you in the good habit of covering their mouths
when sneezing or coughing. It is also spread by hands, for example you
cough into your hand, then shake someone's hand, this person rubs his
eyes and gets the virus that was on your hands into his system.

So wash hands often! and best is to sneeze in a hanky rather than in
one's hands, or in the crook of your elbow, as this area is less likely
to touch things or people. Also, most important, when you have the flu,
stay home! I know sometimes this is not possible, because we have duties
to do. But please think of the risk of giving the virus to others. If you
have to go out, then cover your nose and mouth with a scarf or a mask,
and do not come close to other persons.

No one feeling sick should go to Meherazad or to gatherings such as
Bhauji's talks or arti. Specially, someone with a cold or a cough should
not do samadhi duty and give out prasad. Please explain all this to your
friends and staff. The more people are aware of all this, the better we
can
protect our community.

In Beloved Baba's service,
Dr Anne

PS: If you feel you are catching the flu, drinking ginger tea to induce
sweating is a good way to nip it in the bud.
