ATTACHMENT TO THOUGHT

Davis Taylor

To think without attachment to thought
is easy as selling the farm Dad bought.

Each time we think, we draw a map.
No wonder suffering's the human lot.

I tell my mind, "Relax, let go,"
and watch it tighten up each knot.

I tell my mind slow down and walk;
it bounces me in an endless trot.

I tell my mind, "you're ignorant,"
And it retorts, "you think you're not?"

I'm sleepless, Baba, from love and worry,
A scrivener, my eyes bloodshot,

Who's ready, Dear, to give You all.
Wing Davis home to Your dovecot.
